The Facebook Information Super-Highway!

The Facebook “information super-highway” is better known to most FB members as the “News Feed” & is actually the “core” of both the FB members profile page & more importantly the FB fan page. It is the place where the updates & musings of the page’s owner interact with the comments & feedback of both friends & fans alike!.

Yet for some unknown reason only a few people have unlocked the real power of the Facebook information super-highway. Most Facebook Fan page owners rely on simple, but largely ineffective advertising methods when it comes to their fan pages. They simply create the FB fan page and start posting comments & observations, hoping against hope that their posts will be seen & that people will visit their fan page & become fans. Sometimes this works but more often that not it doesn’t, at least not as well as it could if the person were to simply make subtle ‘tweeks’ to the system….We’ll explain how to do that below.

How Facebook decides to treat (whether to slow it down or speed it up) each post depends on a number of factors.

FB considers the number and frequency of interactions between people or a person and a particular page. The more interactions there are, the slower the posts will move along the “information super-highway”, what this means in simplistic terms is that posts that enjoy “interactions” and “comments” appear & travel much slower through the news feed and stay there longer, whereas posts that get no interaction disappear out of sight very quickly.

“Likes” and “Share” are two of the very best methods of slowing down the “traffic” on your news feed, the more likes & shares on an update the slower it moves…..the more people get to see the update!.

To help apply some additional “drag” or “stickiness” to your Facebook fan page posts, you can actually do a few extra things. Adding a photo is a great way to slow down the movement of the post. The most effective types of photos for this purpose are tall and narrow in shape. The photos don’t need to be particularly relevant to the post but it might be additionally helpful if they are.

Another way to help slow down posts is to do your best to try to generate response comments on your posts. Try hard to come up with “sexy” topics, those that will usually illicit a reasonable amount of responses……and if push comes to shove, it’s always possible to pay people to post comments!.

Providing value to each of your posts is also very important. Posts should interesting, on topic and actually provide some value to the reader. The better the information on your Fan page is the more followers it will generate and the more people will pay attention to the money making links placed strategically on your news feed!.
