How To Use Twitter! How To Use Twitter! On Saturday, March 12th, 2011 at 3:34 am, No Comments »
I can only assume that this is due to the fact that it is not only the businesses, but also the internet marketers who have widely ignored the potential of Twitter, choosing instead to focus their attentions upon the much bigger fish…..Facebook!. It might also be down to the fact that until recently Twitter appeared not to be sure itself what it’s role was within social media networking…..let me provide a simple statement to help clear that up “Twitter is a micro-blogging platform that allows global users to interact together by means of short messages”. What that means in plain English is that the power of Twitter can be harnessed using keyword & niche targeted, demographically precise, language specific tweets that will locate the perfect new Twitter followers for you, who are in effect new business prospects for your products or services!. To be honest many online marketers even today approach Twitter marketing in completely the wrong way tending to work upon the maxim of “quantity over quality”, that is to say recommending you go for lots of followers irrespective of their interests, rather than locating the very best prospects by applying “sniper” tactics!. “What is the point of developing relationships with people that do not share your interests?”…..they will never buy your products or services, they will just take your time & offer nothing in return…..blunt!, yes but the truth. You need to firstly find the right audience, then concentrate all your efforts to develop them first as friends then as customers. Engage them in chats about the niche, about what interests them, tips and advice & just generally about areas that offer mutual satisfaction & agreement. Once you start to have regular dialogue with them & they share your trust, you can gently start to make personal recommendations for your products or services, start to suggest active links that lead them directly to your products, if you build these tweets correctly using targeted keywords, you will also ensure that not only does the recipient see your recommendations, but lots of other Twitter followers as well. Do not do a pre-sell before the prospect is “pre-warmed” – You always need to be thoughtful that you don’t step over the boundary by focusing your chats too much about what your business has to offer. Another useful tip is that when you send a welcome message to a new keyword targeted follower NEVER try to sell to them with that message it is the very worst tactic you can do!. Twitter is all about building a strong network of like minded “pre-warmed” targeted potential customers, handled well it can be the source of the cheapest advertising leads you will ever find, handled badly it quickly becomes a “weight around your neck” which is possible one of the main reasons why the attrition rate on Twitter is much higher than on Facebook!. ![]() Leave a Comment |
